Helped is needed to clean up the dirt road out to Diablo Canyon near Santa Fe. This section of road is littered with bottles/cans and the BLM is bringing the community together to make a dent in the trash.
The following organizations are participating in the cleanup: Caja del Rio Coalition, NM Wild, NM Mountain Club, NM CRAG, NM Backcountry Hunters and Anglers
WHEN
SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2024, 9am - noon
WHERE TO MEET ON THE DIABLO ROAD
Meet at 8:50am at the first cattle guard on Old Buckman Road which is roughly 1 mile in on the dirt road. The GPS coordinates for the meet spot are 35.736927, -106.072095.
WHAT TO EXPECT
There is a mandatory 9am safety briefing. The plan is to split up into groups with each group taking a mile of roadside to clean-up. After the safety briefing, groups will drive to their designated mile marker (marked by a table with a highly visible number on it) with a group lead.
BLM will supply gloves, safety vests, water, trash bags and trash pickers.
BLM will have "safety stations" with water, first aid kits and gloves/bags at about every mile along the road.
Full trash bags will be left along the road to be picked up by the BLM team.

A small backpack to carry your things
Sunscreen and sun protection
Snacks
Water
Sturdy footwear with closed toes
Pack a toilet kit. There will not be toilet facilities.
